Eagle Scout Court of Honor

These cakes were made for an Eagle Scout Court of Honor. They are both 12" rounds; one is chocolate with chocolate mousse filling and the other is white almond sour cream cake with homemade lemon curd filling. They are iced in buttercream. The topper is a handmade Eagle Scout medal, the ribbon is fondant and the "metal" pieces are gumpaste, hand painted with food coloring and/or luster dust. The medals are laying on a piece of fondant used as a sort of handkerchief or piece of silky fabric.

I attended the Eagle Court Of Honor where these cakes starred. They were beautiful! Everyone was very impressed with the decoration of the cakes. Typically there is a nice but blan sheet cake at these functions and due to their very plain tasting cake insides most of the cake is left over, however; these two were devoured and folks were trying to eat the cardboard discs they sat on. Crissy is a wonderful baker first of all and an accomplished decorator second. So what you get tastes wonderful and looks terrific.
